Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship

We will be offering Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeships from September 2025.

If you are an employer, please email the SCITT Director (Derek Boyle) to discuss how we can work with you to help develop your staff through this Initial Teacher Training route.

Our PGTA offer is based on our highly successful ITT programme and it will be based on the Salaried ITT programme that we have run for many years. It will have the same evidence requirements and placement structure as the Salaried programme, which is a contrasting placement in the Spring 1 half-term.

The training programme for the PGTA route will commence in September 2025 with the recommendation for the award of QTS being made in July 2026.  The End-Point Assessment (EPA) will take place in September 2026.

The salary funding rates are as follows:

Grants are paid on a per trainee basis. For 2025 to 2026 we are offering grants of:

  • £29,000 for chemistry, computing, mathematics and physics
  • £26,000 for French, German and Spanish (no other languages)
  • £17,000 for other languages, biology, design and technology, and geography
  • £1,000 for art and design, music and RE

The training fee is covered by the apprenticeship levy.

Specific vacancies for the PGTA from our partnership schools will be listed on this page and our social media channels.
